Industrial water reuse system
Water Reuse

Stop paying for water twice.

Every gallon that goes down your drain was bought once and gets charged again as sewer. Cooling tower blowdown, RO reject and steam condensate can often be cleaned up and used again. Hydrovida tests every water stream in your facility and shows you which ones are worth reusing.

Where reusable water hides in your facility

  • Cooling tower blowdown. Concentrated, but often recoverable with the right pretreatment and RO, then sent back to the tower as makeup.

  • RO reject. Many RO systems send a large share of their feed water to the drain. Some of it can be reused in cooling towers, washdown or other non-potable uses.

  • Steam condensate. Condensate is hot, clean water you've already paid to treat and heat. Every gallon not returned to the boiler is water, chemical and fuel you buy again.

  • Recycled water. Many California agencies sell recycled (“purple pipe”) water for cooling towers, often for less than potable water.

  • Process and rinse water. Some rinse and process streams are clean enough to reuse with simple treatment.

Sound familiar?

  • Your water and sewer bills keep climbing.
  • You're running into discharge limits as production grows.
  • Your sustainability team wants a real water reduction number.
  • Condensate is dumping to drain because nobody trusts it.

How we build a reuse plan

  1. 01

Map your water. We measure every major stream: makeup, blowdown, RO reject, condensate and discharge.

  2. 02

Test it. Our lab tells us what's in each stream and what it would take to reuse it.

  3. 03

Run the numbers. We show you the water, sewer, chemical and energy savings, and the cost of the equipment to get there.

  4. 04

Build it. We spec the equipment, coordinate vendors and contractors, and set up treatment from day one (see Custom projects).

  5. 05

Prove it. Ongoing testing and a written report after every visit show the savings are real.

Treatment is what makes reuse work

Reused water is different from city water. Recycled water can bring more phosphate, ammonia and biological load. Blowdown and RO reject are concentrated. Condensate can carry corrosion products. Without the right chemistry, reuse turns into scale, corrosion and biofouling. We adjust the treatment program to the water you're actually using, and California's recycled water rules (like drift eliminators and biocide treatment on cooling towers) are built into the plan.

Questions

Questions

Can cooling tower blowdown really be reused?

Often, yes. With the right pretreatment and RO, part of the blowdown can be recovered and sent back to the tower as makeup. We test your blowdown first to see if it makes sense.

Can we use recycled water in our cooling tower?

Many California facilities do. Recycled water needs a different treatment program, and the tower has to meet the state's recycled water requirements. We handle both.

How do I know if reuse will pay off?

We test your water streams and show you the savings and the equipment cost side by side before you commit to anything.

Find out how much of your water could be reused.

A Hydrovida rep will test your water streams on-site and show you which ones are worth reusing. No cost, no obligation.
