Cooling Tower Cleaning & Maintenance
Even a well-run tower needs periodic cleaning. We perform mechanical and chemical cleanings to remove scale, silt, and biofilm — restoring heat transfer and reducing Legionella risk.
What fouling costs you
Deposits are an energy problem before they are a maintenance problem. Just 0.2 mm of scale can increase energy cost on a 300-ton chiller by more than $2,000 a year, and 0.2 mm of biofilm by more than $8,000 a year — because the system has to work harder for the same cooling effect.
Scope of work
Drain, isolate, and lock out. Remove drift eliminators and fill for inspection. Pressure wash basin, distribution deck, and fill. Chemically clean scale and biofilm as required. Return to service with a passivation and biocide dose.
Why it matters beyond efficiency
Regular cleaning prevents the buildup of corrosive deposits that pit metal through galvanic effects, limits growth of Legionella and other bacteria, keeps you inside local operating regulations, and conserves water by reducing the need for frequent blowdown.
- Efficiency — restored heat transfer and lower energy cost
- Longevity — less localized corrosion and pitting
- Health and safety — reduced bacterial proliferation
- Compliance — documented maintenance for regulators
- Water conservation — fewer blowdown cycles
When to clean
Annually for most sites; more often for towers with high sediment load, recent outbreaks, or documented biofilm.
Documentation
You receive a written cleaning report with before/after photos and any recommended repairs.
