Legionella Risk Management
Building water systems need a documented management plan, control measures, and validation sampling. We build the program and run the samples.
What we do
Facility walkdowns, ASHRAE 188 water management plans, control point identification, biocide program design, and routine Legionella culture and PCR sampling.
What Legionella are
Legionella are aerobic, rod-shaped, Gram-negative bacteria common to aquatic systems. Inhaled, they can cause Legionellosis — Legionnaires' disease — a severe pneumonia with high mortality if it is not diagnosed and treated promptly. The bacteria thrive in warm water, so the warm heat-transfer surfaces and drift of a cooling tower make it both an ideal breeding ground and a route of human exposure.
How we manage the risk
We assess and document where Legionella could grow and reach people, then implement a testing and monitoring plan to hold that risk down — reviewed as the system and occupancy change.
For whom
Hospitals, senior living, hotels, and any building with cooling towers or complex domestic hot water systems.
