Clean cooling tower fill after a Hydrovida cleaning
North County San Diego · Vista

Commercial Water Treatment in Vista, CA

Vista is one of North County's busiest places to make things. Manufacturers, food and beverage producers and breweries run cooling towers, boilers and process water every day, and they pay for water twice: once to buy it and again to send it to the sewer. Hydrovida helps Vista facilities cut both, keep equipment free of scale and stay within discharge limits.

Where Vista's water comes from

Most of Vista is served by the Vista Irrigation District (VID), and some areas are served by the Vallecitos Water District. VID combines local water from its own watershed and wellfield in the mountains to the east with imported water bought from the San Diego County Water Authority.

VID's local water is treated at the Escondido-Vista Water Treatment Plant, which VID owns jointly with the City of Escondido. Imported water from the Colorado River and Northern California makes up the rest. Either way, it's hard, mineral-heavy water. Escondido's 2025 report for that same plant shows hardness of about 215 mg/L, and the imported supply is in the same hard range. That's enough to scale towers, boilers and heat exchangers, and to keep softeners and RO systems busy.

Who we work with in Vista

The Vista Business Park is one of the largest in the county, with more than 900 businesses according to the city's economic development team, and the city is well known for its craft breweries. That means a lot of cooling towers, chillers, boilers, glycol loops and process water in a small area. Food and beverage plants need clean steam and food-safe chemistry. Manufacturers need process cooling that doesn't quit mid-shift. We already work with facilities across North County.

How Hydrovida fixes it

For cooling towers, we test your water and set cycles of concentration so you buy less water without building scale, with controllers that hold the setpoint between visits. For boilers, we protect tubes, cut blowdown and help you burn less fuel. For closed and glycol loops, we stop the corrosion and sludge that plug strainers and wear out pumps.

For softeners and RO, we test, tune and service equipment so it keeps up with Vista's hard water. For any site with a cooling tower, we write and maintain ASHRAE 188 water management plans and run routine Legionella testing. Our chemistry is made by Hydrovida, and NSF/ANSI/CAN 60 certified chemistry options are available for food and beverage applications.

Sewer limits and rebates

Vista's wastewater is treated at the Encina Water Pollution Control Facility in Carlsbad. The Encina Wastewater Authority runs an industrial source control program that permits and monitors what businesses discharge. Breweries and food plants with high-strength wastewater feel this most. We help you control what goes down the drain, from blowdown to process rinse water, so you stay within your limits.

Vista Irrigation District's commercial rebate page lists SoCal Water$mart rebates for cooling tower conductivity controllers and pH/conductivity controllers. Funding is limited and first-come, first-served, so we help you check what's currently available before you buy.
