Clean cooling tower fill after a Hydrovida cleaning
North County San Diego · Oceanside

Commercial Water Treatment in Oceanside, CA

Oceanside's water is hard, and most of it is imported, so every gallon your cooling tower or boiler wastes is a gallon you bought twice: once coming in and once going down the sewer. Hydrovida helps Oceanside facilities use less water, keep scale out of their equipment and keep Legionella records inspection-ready, from our office just down the road in Carlsbad.

Where Oceanside's water comes from

The City of Oceanside's Water Utilities Department supplies the city from three sources. According to its 2024 water quality report, about 75% is imported raw water from the San Diego County Water Authority, treated at the city's Robert A. Weese plant. About 12% is treated Water Authority water blended with desalinated seawater from Carlsbad. The remaining 13% comes from the Mission Basin Groundwater Purification Facility, which uses reverse osmosis to treat brackish groundwater from the San Luis Rey River valley.

Oceanside is also building more local supply. Pure Water Oceanside, the first water reuse project to come online in San Diego County, purifies recycled water from the San Luis Rey Water Reclamation Facility and puts it back into the Mission Basin, where it's pumped and treated again.

For your equipment, the key number is hardness. The Weese plant's water averaged about 245 mg/L of hardness in 2024, roughly 14 grains per gallon. That's hard water. It builds scale on tower fill, heat exchanger tubes and boiler surfaces, and it keeps softeners and RO systems working hard.

Who we work with in Oceanside

Oceanside runs from the harbor and beachfront hotels to hospitals and medical offices, light manufacturing and food and beverage production along the SR-76 corridor and near the airport, and the defense-related businesses that come with sitting next to Camp Pendleton. Hotels run boilers for hot water and laundry. Hospitals need documented Legionella control. Manufacturers and food plants run towers, boilers and process water around the clock. We already work with facilities across North County.

How Hydrovida fixes it

Hard water and expensive water push in opposite directions: run your tower at too few cycles and you waste water, run it at too many and you build scale. We test your water and set inhibitor, antiscalant and cycles of concentration so you get the most out of every gallon without scaling the tower. A modern controller with remote monitoring holds that setpoint between visits.

For boilers, we protect tubes, cut blowdown and help you burn less fuel. For softeners and RO, we test, tune and service equipment so it actually keeps up with Oceanside's hardness. For hospitals, hotels and anyone with a cooling tower, we write and maintain ASHRAE 188 water management plans and run routine Legionella testing. NSF/ANSI/CAN 60 certified chemistry options are available where you need them.

Discharge and rebates

Oceanside treats its own wastewater, and businesses that send process water to the sewer have limits on what goes down the drain. If you're dealing with discharge limits or surcharges, we help you get your blowdown and process discharge under control.

Upgrades like cooling tower conductivity controllers can qualify for water-agency rebates in the San Diego region. We'll help you check what's currently available before you buy.
