Commercial Water Treatment in Chula Vista, CA

Chula Vista is growing fast, with new hotels on the bayfront, new campuses and business parks in the east, and hospitals and schools that have to keep running. Every one of those buildings has cooling towers, boilers or hot water systems that waste water and money when they aren't treated right. Hydrovida helps Chula Vista facilities use less water, keep scale out and keep Legionella records ready.

Two water agencies, two different waters

Western Chula Vista is served by the Sweetwater Authority, which mixes local surface water treated at its Perdue Water Treatment Plant, fresh groundwater from wells in National City, and imported water from the San Diego County Water Authority. Its Richard A. Reynolds Groundwater Desalination Facility in Chula Vista uses reverse osmosis to treat brackish groundwater and supplies about one-third of the Authority's annual water.

Eastern Chula Vista is served by the Otay Water District, which buys treated imported water from the Water Authority and neighboring agencies, a mix of Colorado River, Northern California and Carlsbad desalinated water.

Why it matters: the two supplies don't behave the same, and Sweetwater's blend shifts as its sources change. A cooling tower or boiler program built for one water can scale or corrode on the other. Both agencies disinfect with chloramine, which damages RO membranes without proper pretreatment. We test what you actually get before we set anything.

Who we work with in Chula Vista

A large new resort and convention center opened on the Chula Vista Bayfront in 2025, part of the Port of San Diego's bayfront redevelopment, and hotels run boilers, cooling towers and hot water systems around the clock. Chula Vista also has regional hospitals and medical offices, Southwestern College and a large school district, and business parks in Otay Ranch and the rest of eastern Chula Vista. Hospitals and hotels in particular need documented Legionella control. We already work with facilities across San Diego County.

How Hydrovida fixes it

For cooling towers, we test your water and set cycles of concentration so you buy less water without building scale, with controllers and remote monitoring that catch problems between visits. For boilers and hot water systems in hotels and hospitals, we protect tubes, cut blowdown and help you burn less fuel. For closed loops, we stop rusty water and plugged strainers.

For hospitals, hotels and campuses, we write and maintain ASHRAE 188 water management plans and run routine Legionella testing. For softeners and RO, we test, tune and service equipment so it keeps up with your water. Our chemistry is made by Hydrovida, with NSF/ANSI/CAN 60 certified chemistry options available.

Discharge rules and rebates

Chula Vista's wastewater goes to the City of San Diego's Point Loma Wastewater Treatment Plant through the regional Metro system. Under an agreement among the participating agencies, the City of San Diego's Industrial Wastewater Control Program handles industrial discharge permits for Chula Vista businesses. We help you keep blowdown and process discharge within your limits.

Water-saving upgrades like conductivity and pH controllers may qualify for water-agency rebates. We help you check what's available before you buy.
