Commercial Water Treatment in Vernon & Commerce, CA

Vernon and Commerce are where Southern California processes, stores and ships its food and goods. Boilers make steam for cooking and sanitation, evaporative condensers keep cold storage cold, and process water runs all day. When scale or corrosion takes one of those down, product is at risk. Hydrovida keeps that equipment running, cuts water, fuel and sewer costs, and helps you stay within your discharge permit.

Where the water comes from

Vernon runs its own water department, which serves more than 800 customers and pumps groundwater from deep wells in the Central Groundwater Basin, with a direct connection to the Metropolitan Water District for imported water. Some parts of Vernon are served by California Water Service (Cal Water) instead.

In Commerce, Cal Water serves customers through its East Los Angeles District and also operates the City of Commerce water system under contract. Both systems combine local groundwater with water bought from the Metropolitan Water District, which comes from the Colorado River and Northern California.

Groundwater and imported water don't treat the same, and many sites get a mix that changes. Mineral-heavy makeup water builds scale in boilers, evaporative condensers and cooling towers, and a program set for one source can miss when the blend shifts. We test the water you actually get, then set treatment for it.

Who we work with in Vernon and Commerce

Vernon was founded as an industrial city, and it and neighboring Commerce are packed with food processors, meat and produce packers, bakeries, cold storage and refrigerated warehouses, distribution centers and heavy manufacturing. Food plants run boilers for steam and hot water. Cold storage runs refrigeration evaporative condensers that scale and grow biofilm fast. Manufacturers run process cooling and closed loops. We already work with facilities across Southern California.

How Hydrovida fixes it

For boilers, we protect tubes, cut blowdown and help you burn less fuel, with NSF/ANSI/CAN 60 certified chemistry options available for food plants. For evaporative condensers and cooling towers, we set inhibitor, antiscalant and biocide for your makeup water, and controllers with remote monitoring hold the setpoint between visits. When scale has already built up, we clean it out and document the before and after.

For softeners and RO, we test, tune and service equipment so boiler feedwater stays clean. For any site with a cooling tower or evaporative condenser, we write and maintain ASHRAE 188 water management plans and run Legionella testing. Our chemistry is made by Hydrovida.

Discharge permits, surcharges and rebates

Industrial sewer discharges in Vernon and Commerce are regulated by the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts. Businesses that discharge industrial wastewater need an Industrial Wastewater Discharge Permit, and larger or high-strength dischargers pay surcharges based on flow and strength. For food processors, that can be a big line item. We jar-test your wastewater, choose the right coagulants and flocculants, and cut tower and boiler blowdown so you send less, and cleaner, water to the sewer.

SoCal Water$mart, run with the Metropolitan Water District, offers rebates on cooling tower conductivity and pH/conductivity controllers, but eligibility and amounts depend on your water agency. We help you check what's available before you buy.

Questions

Questions

Who supplies water in Vernon and Commerce?

Vernon has its own water department, which uses local groundwater and Metropolitan Water District water; parts of Vernon are served by Cal Water. In Commerce, Cal Water serves customers and operates the City of Commerce water system under contract.

Can you help lower sewer surcharges?

Often, yes. We jar-test your wastewater, dial in coagulant and flocculant dosing, and cut blowdown so you discharge less flow and lower strength.

Do you treat evaporative condensers for cold storage?

Yes. We treat evaporative condensers and cooling towers for scale, corrosion and biofilm, and keep Legionella records under an ASHRAE 188 plan.
