Commercial Water Treatment in Van Nuys & the San Fernando Valley, CA

Valley summers run hotter than the coast, so cooling towers and chillers in Van Nuys and across the San Fernando Valley work hardest when water and power cost the most. Hydrovida helps studios, hospitals, aerospace shops and food plants cut the water and energy they pay for, keep scale and corrosion out, and stay on the right side of LA's industrial wastewater rules.

What's in Valley water

Van Nuys and the rest of the city's part of the San Fernando Valley get their water from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP). LADWP's 2025 water quality report lists three sources for Valley communities: the Los Angeles Aqueduct, local groundwater and State Water Project water bought from the Metropolitan Water District. Citywide in 2025, about 44% came from the Aqueduct, 52% from Metropolitan, 3% from recycled water and 1% from local groundwater.

That mix means your water changes. LADWP's Valley sources averaged roughly 100 to 140 mg/L of hardness in 2025, depending on the source. That's softer than much of Southern California, which sounds like good news, but it means a treatment program has to balance scale control against corrosion, and it has to keep up when the blend shifts. A cooling tower controller on a fixed setting can't do that by itself.

Who we work with in the Valley

The San Fernando Valley runs on production studios and sound stages, hospitals and medical centers, aerospace and machining shops, and food and beverage manufacturing, plus the office and industrial parks around Van Nuys Airport. Studios and offices run big comfort-cooling towers and chilled water loops. Hospitals need documented Legionella control. Aerospace and food plants run process cooling, boilers and wash water around the clock. We already work with facilities across Southern California.

How Hydrovida fixes it

For cooling towers, we test your water, set inhibitor and cycles of concentration for the Valley's changing supply, and add controllers with remote monitoring so conductivity and chemical feed stay on target between visits. For chilled water and hot water loops, we stop the corrosion and sludge that plug strainers, foul coils and wear out pumps.

For boilers, we protect tubes and cut blowdown and fuel. For hospitals, studios and any site with a cooling tower, we write and maintain ASHRAE 188 water management plans and run routine Legionella testing. If your towers are getting old, we can restore them cell by cell for a fraction of the cost of replacement. Our chemistry is made by Hydrovida, with NSF/ANSI/CAN 60 certified chemistry options available.

Wastewater permits and rebates

In the City of Los Angeles, businesses that discharge industrial wastewater to the sewer need an Industrial Wastewater Permit from LA Sanitation & Environment under the city's Industrial Waste Control Ordinance (LAMC Section 64.30), and that covers manufacturers, labs, medical offices, commercial bakeries and laundries. Much of the Valley's wastewater is treated at the Donald C. Tillman Water Reclamation Plant in Van Nuys. We help you keep tower blowdown and process discharge within your permit.

LADWP and the Metropolitan Water District offer commercial SoCal Water$mart rebates for cooling tower conductivity controllers and pH/conductivity controllers. Funds must be reserved before you buy, and amounts can change, so we help you confirm what's available first.

What you can expect
