Commercial Water Treatment in Monterey, CA
The Monterey Peninsula has no imported water. Its water comes from local sources, and the region has lived under state limits on its supply for decades. For hotels, colleges, research and federal sites, hospitals and senior living communities, using less water is part of doing business. Hydrovida helps Peninsula facilities cut water use and keep cooling towers, boilers and closed loops clean and safe.

Where Peninsula water comes from
Monterey County isn't connected to the state or federal water projects. California American Water (Cal Am) serves the Peninsula from local sources: the Carmel River, the Seaside Groundwater Basin, and Pure Water Monterey, which purifies wastewater with ozone, membrane filtration, reverse osmosis and advanced oxidation and uses it to replenish the Seaside Basin. Pure Water Monterey produces about 5,950 acre-feet a year for that purpose.
Since 1995, Cal Am has been under State Water Resources Control Board orders to reduce unauthorized diversions from the Carmel River, and a current condition restricts new service connections and some increases in use. The Monterey Peninsula Water Management District has applied to modify that condition, and the State Water Board has scheduled a public comment session on November 5, 2026, with closing briefs due November 10. Check with Cal Am and MPWMD for current rules before planning any change in water use.
Who we work with on the Peninsula
Monterey, Pacific Grove, Seaside, Marina and Moss Landing are home to hotels and resorts, colleges and graduate schools, federal and marine research facilities, hospitals, senior living communities, offices and aquaculture and food operations. They run cooling towers and chillers, boilers for hot water and laundry, closed loops and humidification, and towers need Legionella plans, especially where guests and residents are vulnerable.
How Hydrovida fixes it
We test your makeup water, then push cooling tower cycles as high as your water safely allows, with controllers and remote monitoring so blowdown follows real conductivity. For closed loops, we stop corrosion before it causes leaks and pump failures. For boilers and laundry hot water, we protect tubes and cut fuel and blowdown. We write and maintain ASHRAE 188 water management plans and run routine Legionella testing.
Our chemistry is made by Hydrovida, with NSF/ANSI/CAN 60 certified chemistry options available.

State Water Board orders have restricted Carmel River diversions since 1995, including limits on new connections. A request to modify those limits is before the State Water Board, so check current rules with Cal Am and MPWMD.
Do you write Legionella plans for hotels and senior living?
Yes. We write and maintain ASHRAE 188 water management plans and run routine Legionella testing.
What does a free water analysis include?
We test your makeup and system water, review your treatment, softeners, cycles and water bills, and show where you can save water, energy and chemicals. There is no cost and no obligation, and nothing changes until you agree.
